August 15th, 1958 - 21-year-old Buddy Holly was married to 25-year-old Maria Elena Santiago who he had met just two months earlier. The wedding took place at his parents home in Lubbock, Texas, only a few days after his song "Think It Over" entered the US Top 40 chart.

May 18th, 1978 - The Buddy Holly Story, the film biography starring Gary Busey in the title role, is released. Busey is nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his performance. Twelve years later, the actor pays a quarter of a million dollars at auction for an acoustic guitar that belonged to Holly.
